Dia Dhuit agus Fáilte! Thank you for your willingness to volunteer for the Rose of Tralee International Festival. This year we celebrate our 61st Festival and our volunteers are the life-blood of the Rose of Tralee.

Volunteering for this unique Festival means experiencing first hand the enjoyment and excitement that the Rose of Tralee International Festival brings to Tralee.

In order for us to consider your potential involvement, you need to complete this Volunteer Application Form no later than Friday 29th July 2022.

Please carefully read the ‘Guide for Applicants’ below. All information supplied by you will be securely stored and will only be shared with individuals who need to see it as part of their duties.

BENEFITS OF VOLUNTEERING

Benefits for working as a Volunteer at our Festival include:

• Training: Which is specific to the Festival’s Health & Safety issues.
• Experience: You will gain valuable experience dealing with the public at the many different events during the festival, assisting people with any queries they may have and ensuring the safety of everyone at the events.
• Event Uniform: A Festival T-Shirt will be provided for all Volunteers. These must be worn with presentable black trousers or black jeans (no rips or tears) at all times while volunteering. Parade Stewards are required to wear all black and will be provided with a Festival day-glow Bib. T-Shirts are provided for the volunteer to keep, however bibs must be returned.
• Wrap Party: All Volunteers who complete their allocated rosters are invited along to celebrate the end of the 2022 Rose of Tralee International Festival in the Meadowlands Hotel on Wednesday 24^th August.

GUIDE FOR APPLICANTS

The following is a brief description of the main duties of volunteers.

All volunteers are expected to have a good knowledge of the entertainment schedule for the Festival, and of the geography of Tralee town, so as to be able to answer the potential questions of tourists and visitors to our town.

Street & Family Events: Your duties will include the physical running of an actual event which occurs on the streets to include all stages, performance spaces and any area where the public will be moving towards, within and away from.  The setting up of crowd control safety systems for performance spaces, parades, fireworks displays etc.   

In relation to stage and performance areas, the key elements would be:

• Not allowing any individuals inside the barrier enclosure without proper accreditation
• Constantly being vigilant of crowd control, especially in front of the stage
• Assisting, where requested, with the performer set-up and take-down of equipment
• Advising your Team Leader of any potential hazards, such as build-up of litter, equipment breakdown, or anything you see as a potential problem, etc
• Assisting with the smooth running of all family events including children’s workshops, street performances, parades and activities
• Providing the public with general information on the start and finish times of events, directions to services, etc.
• Ensuring the safety of the crowds attending events and ensuring the safety of the artists and groups who will be performing in the area.
• Assisting any members of the public that may need support or medical help.

MTU: The day to day build and break within the MTU for the various functions. The work will entail some preparation and dismantling days prior to & after the Festival. Festival week itself will entail either early morning, afternoon or night shift work.

NOTES TO APPLICANTS

1. Team Meetings – Your Team Leader will be in contact with you if your application has been successful. You will be invited to attend at least one Team Meeting whereby you will meet other Volunteers along with the Leader(s) of your Team. Your TL will take you through your Support Activity Duty details and all Health and Safety procedures and documentation so that you are well informed prior to your voluntary duties commencing.
2. Training & Induction – Volunteers must attend training & induction evening (date & location tbc), during which training materials and other information necessary for satisfactory completion of volunteer duties is offered.
3. It is Festival policy that each applicant is available for a minimum of four part time volunteering shifts for the Town/Streets area.
4. Should your availability change following your initial application, please contact one of the volunteer coordinators with your changes as soon as possible.
5. It is a strict policy of the Rose of Tralee International Festival not to share any information contained on the Volunteer Application Form with any third parties.
6. Please be aware that the Festival cannot provide any living, travel or accommodation expenses to volunteers.
