Roses and Rose Escorts send off Chernobyl Children’s International aid to Ukraine

This is great news! Chernobyl Children International‘s delivery of much-needed humanitarian aid, led by the amazing Jim Kavanagh, has started its journey to Ukraine over the weekend! Jim is joined by fellow long-standing CCI volunteer, George Sugrue, and were given a great send off by Benetti Menswear Rose Escorts Tommy Cunningham and Tommy Quirke, Wexford Rose Brónagh Hogan, Carlow Rose Caoimhe Deering and Kilkenny Rose Lisa O’Rourke .

This year a group of Roses and Rose Escorts helped raise the much-needed funds to make this vital delivery of aid possible. The aid delivery includes food and essential medical supplies and will be distributed to the Ivankiv region in Ukraine. Ivankiv was the one of the regions worst impacted by the Chernobyl disaster of 1986, and sadly it was also the first region to be occupied during the Russian invasion in February 2022. Unfortunately, the impoverished communities of Ivankiv have been largely forgotten by mainstream international humanitarian aid organisations.

CCI has been working within the Chernobyl Region for over 35 years and is deeply concerned about children and families who are currently trapped there as the war unfolds. CCI is working to get humanitarian aid, which includes food, water, and medicines, to children and their families who are in desperate need.

CCI has remained ‘shoulder to shoulder’ with the people of Ukraine, most particularly the children whose welfare is their responsibility. Your support will help them to continue their vital work.
